i'm sure this has been posted here before, but my searches have turned up nothing. basically, i'm thinking about buying an xbox 360 and think it might be better to get a u.s. version for various reasons. unfortunately, i'm not sure what the best of getting an american xbox to me here in korea would be. i'm also not sure if it's worth the effort to do so when i could just buy a korean version here. do you guys have any suggestions or advice? |

It is a smart idea to buy American. Not all games are region free on the Xbox, though many are.
I suggest going on e-bay and click the column tag so that items will show the shipping costs to Korea. About 5% will ship to Korea. I bought mine that way and it cost me only 220,000 for a used Xbox 360 including shipping. You will have to ask the seller to list the buying price much lower though in order to avoid being taxed.
The other option is http://www.play-asia.com. They are quite expensive though. |

I recently bought a Korean Xbox, and everything is in English. I don't know why you would want to spend the extra money for an American one.
Only a few games are in Korean, like Halo 3. But I found a used Halo 3, American version game, in Yongsan, that plays on my Korean X-box.
Just check play asia to see which games are region coded, and then buy them in Yongson. |

For the hockey. Only for that. I have both a Korean and an American box now, and could never be happier. I got this...

...which was actually a bit cheaper than if bought in Korea(at least at a retailer or online retailer). Of course, it could've been much more expensive if I hadn't had a great friend to pick it up for me.
Having said all that, I have a sneaking suspicion that EA's NHL 10 will be ntsc region-free. |
