OK - So I have been on a date with this very pretty young lady - she has told her mum and sister about me apparently - but what are the signs to look out for if she is just after free English lessons rather than 'luuuurve' Laughing

I know I am a total loser who should be flipping burgers back home because I don't know the anwser to this Laughing But any sage advice from the veterans would be much appreciated!

We need a LOT more info.

So far, I've been on half a dozen dates with different Korean girls, and it was pretty obvious that they weren't looking for free English lessons. One girl, however, quite obviously wanted the practice. She was quite honest about it, but the straw that broke the camel's back was when she asked if she could bring her MALE friend along to meet me. Rolling Eyes

Needless to say, I was suddenly too busy to see her.

There isn't much more info to give Michael - she is a fellow teacher at my PS (but she is being shipped out in the next couple of weeks) we spent 4 hours together on the date, had a meal and then went to a coffee shop, I thought we had a really good time. Basically, I would like to know any future behaviours of free English lesson fans apart from the obvious (when I try to kiss her and she repels me! Shocked ) because she will be kicked to the curb quicker than you can say 'Issac Durst' Evil or Very Mad

If she's getting shipped out soon, is she leaving your city? If so, there might not be much future for you...

Meeting a girl at work--hmm. Well, give it a go. Have coffee with her. Flirt. See how she responds. If she doesn't seem to warm up to you, then drop it. But there is something different about Korean flirting--I haven't got the hang of it, yet. I went out with one girl and thought she was repulsed by me. Turns out she really liked me.

I just play the stupid foreigner who has no idea wtf is going on because, well, it's the truth. Hopefully it makes me endearing.

If she's single and willing to pay for meals, outtings or activities, then that's a definite plus for you.

Does it matter? She gets what she wants and you get what you want. Win-Win. Everybody wants something.

Some Possible indicators.

If she brings a Side by Side book to your next "meeting."

If she asks random grammar questions when you were not already discussing the merits of the English language.

If (as another poster pointed out) she has definitive travel/study plans far away.

If she pulls out an application (document) for a Western univ. or the like as asks for help. (happened to me once) Laughing

If she generally seems less interested in what you said, but how you said it.

If her English sucks ass as it is.

If she starts asking for little English favors. (editing, corrections) Not to say that marrieds don't do this, but it generally comes later in the relationship.

If (after the appropriate time) she has no interest in anything physical with you.

The only thing that seems a little odd to me (and i'm probably WAY off here) is that she's already told her Mom about you, but then some young ladies do that kinda' stuff)

If She's not physical would be a good indicator....few women are gonna go prostitute themselves with some guy they're not interested in for English.

Also, if she does pay half or fully for everything might be a tip off right from the get go.....Pretty much every language exchange/friend dealio with a girl had them pay and be very forward about doing so...unlike dates.

BTW, you can score alot of free meals off of english lang. exchanges...

It's not either/or. I went out with a chick I was sure was milking me for free English (negative sekshi vibe), but then we coitused. Go figure.
