Hey if you buy a used pre-paid phone (in someone else's name), how long does it stay valid?

I believe you're supposed to put it into your name, but if you don't have an ARC, you can't do that.

I'm guessing it just stays valid until the expiration of the previous owner's ARC, or would it be valid forever?
