It appears that the Korean government has a new campaign to improve its image worldwide. It wants to do some rebranding and use "Caring and lovable Korea" as one of its catchwords or slogans.
Seems as good as "Korea Sparkling" in my opinion.

Korea revs up rebranding campaign

Korea plans to send more volunteers abroad, promote its martial arts and language, and share its growth experience with more developing countries as part of efforts to enhance its national image.
The Presidential Council on Nation Branding yesterday announced a set of programmes aimed to boost Korea's standing in national brand recognition from 33rd to 15th by 2013.
The plans also include expanding international student exchanges, better support for multicultural families and encouraging good etiquette and hospitality among citizens.
A joint marketing campaign will be launched under which the top 100 products will be associated with the national identity.
"Many problems arise from the fact that the nation has yet to possess a brand value matching its economic standing," President Lee Myung-bak said during the council's briefing session.
The panel was launched in January under Lee's direction in order to develop a comprehensive nation-branding strategy and coordinate measures conducted by various government branches.
The panel reported 10 priority projects under the vision to conjure up an image of "a caring and lovable Korea."
The plan centers on increasing Korea's contribution to the world through assistance and volunteering.
The Strategy and Finance Ministry will launch a programme to disseminate Korea's economic modernisation model to developing countries.
The project will be conducted first with Viet Nam this year and will be expanded to other countries in Asia, Africa and South America, the council said.
Korea will offer support and consultations on policy and institutions for economic development. It will also actively participate in efforts by the United Nations and other international organisations for that purpose.
The Foreign Ministry will send more than 3,000 volunteers overseas every year under an integrated programme called "Korean Supporters" to be launched next month.
Some 2,000 Koreans engage each year in state-supported volunteer activities abroad, the third largest figure after the United States and Japan.
The new programme will manage all government dispatched service workers to ensure they represent the nation more effectively and consistently.
The Education Ministry will introduce a new scholarship programme for foreign students, called Global Korea Scholarship, and a new student exchange programme with Asian countries, called CAMPUS Asia.
The Culture Ministry will promote Korea's main martial art taekwondo and its language.
It will provide support for institutes that offer Korean language worldwide and will ask them to use the brand name King Sejong Institute, named after the 15th-century king credited with creation of the alphabet.
Internet-based language learning programmes will also be enhanced and the number of institutes will be sharply increased.
The ministry plans to introduce an "Enjoy Taekwondo Project" to better promote the sport to foreigners.
The government plans to launch a campaign to foster better etiquette and improve hospitality among citizens to make Korea a more pleasant country to visit.
The 47-member panel advises the president on measures aimed at reinforcing Korea's reputation and "soft power" in the international community. It is led by Euh Yoon-dae, former president of Korea University.
The council consists of top government officials and private sector members including businessmen, scholars, lawyers, marketing experts and a popular musician.
Korea's image abroad lags far behind its achievement in economics, democracy and diplomatic clout.
The country's brand value is estimated at less than 30 percent of its gross domestic product in 2007, while the United States was viewed to be worth 143 percent of its total GDP and Japan 224 percent, according to a survey by Simon Anhold, a nation branding authority in the United Kingdom.
Though on the wane, corruption, militant labour activism, narrow-minded nationalism, and opaque corporate governance remain fixed images of Korea.
A recent poll showed that North Korea's nuclear threat, confrontational politics and street protests are biggest hindrances to improving the national image.
In a survey of 1,000 foreign expatriates in Korea, unveiled by the panel yesterday, 48.4 percent said tensions between the divided Koreas had the most negative impact on the country's image, while 41.5 percent said political and social instability damaged its reputation.

Another thought as well. Perhaps if Samsung would stop pretending they are Japanese, it might help raise South Korea's brand image. |

But it could lower their sales. People trust Japanese products more than any others in the world. |

Ok Apologist or not,
I think we can all agree that's possibly one of the worst slogans for Korea.
Not only is it a poor reflection of Korea's strong points, it actually emphasizes what most foreigners would consider Korea's weakness. Don't get me wrong, I love Korea and I think there are some loving and careing people in it...
However, I'm not exactly like I'm getting hugs and kisses from everyone left and right of me.
I think they shoudl have done something like "Incredible India" (that's a damn good slogan). Like "Captivating Korea" |

I agree with Goku's comments, and his slogan idea is quite good too. Korea should focus on its strong points. If you say something a million times yet don't take it action towards making it a reality, it will just remain a false premise. Unfortunately, Korea hasn't realised that yet. Overcompensating on your weak points without taking action does not miraculously make them strong selling points. |

Agreed--"Incredible India" is a great slogan, as is "Malaysia--Truly Asia". I think Captivating Korea is a bit awkward; alliterating [k] always sounds a little silly (at least to me), and having a C/K spelling for the alliteration makes it look even sillier, giving one the urge to change that "c" to a "k"--think Krazy Kids, for example. |

I'm intrigued.
What would be a good slogan for Korea if we could get rid of Korea Sparkling? |

"caring and lovable" ??????
other than being so freakin' ridiculous - what exactly is this supposed to mean??
the most xenophobic country on Earth - caring about what??
certainly not about the huge numbers of babies allowed to be adopted out of the country -
certainly not about the reputation of K business owners for dishonesty, greed and abuse -
certainly not about the treatment of animals - both domestic and wild - the few that are left -
certainly not about the environment - the air - yellow dust may originate in China but K is part of the same land mass - what are they doing to help? (nothing is the correct answer) - bigger gasoline engines in the cars all the time - where's the electric car in K? wiping out wetlands on the coastal areas despite detailed reports that clearly showed it would be detrimental to migrating birds
and lovable?? huh??? this is downright insulting to people everywhere - you can't declare a population "lovable!!" it's derogatory, demeaning and belittling - it sounds like they are teddy bears or something - - 'course I suppose if they wanted to promote their sex industry or something
