Quote:
A British MP told CBC News on Sunday that it was inappropriate of border officials to ban him from entering Canada based on security grounds and he hopes the immigration minister will intervene.

"This is a misuse of the war on terror. This is a misuse of security concerns in service of what is clearly a political act to try to gag me," said George Galloway, in an interview from London, England. "But I don't think it'll succeed."

A former British Labour Party member now with the Respect party, Galloway was scheduled to speak March 30 at a Toronto conference called Resisting War from Gaza to Kandahar, hosted by the Toronto Coalition to Stop the War. He was also planning to speak at three other locations, including at a public forum the following day in nearby Mississauga.

Galloway said a British newspaper first reported he was being denied entry into Canada because of his views on Afghanistan, but by the time he got a letter last week from the Canadian High Commission in London, "it had morphed into some kind of complaint about the aid convoy that I had led of 110 British vehicles and 350 British citizens, carrying everything from medicines to nappies to wheelchairs on board ambulances into the besieged Gaza Strip a week or two ago."

This one's starting to look very political indeed. He should see if he can get into the US for a speaking engagement. It would be funny for him to do an outdoor event near Niagra Falls or the Peace Arch where Canadians can hear him on loudspeakers across the boarder. That would make Harper's government look quite ridiculous.

I'm sorry I didn't know Mr. Galloway was planning to run for public office in Canada?

Hahaha, I found this clip hilarious. Galloway (who is always articulate and amusing, whatever you think of him) on TV discussing his ban and debating a spokesman of the JDL.

The spokesman is an utter hypocrit in his objections, given that his own organisation have also been branded a violent extremist organisation by the FBI, and have themselves done much fundraising for the Israeli terrorist group Kahane Chai (also considered a terrorist group by Canada). By his own logic, the JDL spokesman out to be exiled from Canada!

He's not being banned for accepting public funds, he's being banned for the content of his speech.

Which is kinda amusing, given Canada's self-styled image as being so much more open to diverse opinion than the Yanks are.

Canada is a sovereign country. They can let whomever they wish in. Bush was the head of state of the most important nation on the planet. This Galloway character is just an independent MP with no influence whatsoever at any level of government in Britain.

Actually Canada's Crimes Against Humanity and War Crimes Act states that people that have commited war crimes will recieve life sentences. A foreign national that has commited such crimes is not allowed to enter Canada. Bush has not been convicted of war crimes yet, but he is under investigation.

As far as I'm aware Mr. Galloway, no matter how vile his actual speech might be, is not under such an investigation.

Thus, it is a bit odd that he's denied entry.

Being a soveriegn country means Canada is supposed to enforce their constitutional laws. Mr. Bush, being a former president, is not exempt from the laws or guidelines of any country.

edit: some spelling, but then I gave up. it's the internet Rolling Eyes

George Bush is spreading democracy and helping make the world a better place! See, two can play at this game! This is so much fun! *

* You add little to the discussion, hippie. This fool Galloway proliferates stupidity. There are enough harlowthroebey fools in Canada as it is. He is the antithesis of why the Canadian forces and their homeboys are doing humanitarian work abroad.

Where were you when Geert Wilders was banned from Britain???
