Every newspaper carries editorials about discrimination and xenophobia in Korea, and every message board is obviously filled with Westerners discussing the daily inconveniences. Reading the Japan forum I noticed somebody mentioned that the Japanese are oblivious to racism in their country (a generalization, I know, but at least partially accurate), and I am wondering if any newspapers or journals have compiled Korean reactions to xenophobia and racism against foreigners in Korea? I'm just curious b/c everyone has opinions about racism against Asian-Americans, or about Asians in America (and elsewhere), but information about their domestic practices are scant.
Thanks. |

What do you mean by the first part of your first sentence?
"Every newspaper carries editorials about discrimination and xenophobia in Korea...."
Which newspapers are these?
Anyway on this forum, if you have read any of it, you'll hear those who cry foul, and those who say all is OK. You'll get a lot of opinion. I personally think the racism is fear and discomfort. Different can be hard. Or many of us are just dumb. |
