The old ajumma myth that opening the window while wiping the floor with a rag will cause the dust to go out the window. Is this a similar law of Korean science related to Fan death and Acid rain related baldness.

Yeah, that one's up there with hanging upside down in the gym to "change the blood" circulating from the top half of your body to the bottom half.

Heard about the fan death, not the acid rain one though. That's even better. I believe the vacuum created by an ajjuma's inner fury causes all the dust in the room to concentrate into 1-4cm3 sphere. From there, ajjuma intakes said sphere and gracefully spits dustball out of window. Conventional physics do not apply in S.K.!

If there is air circulation in the room, then wouldn't the dust get carried out of the room when there's a breeze?

It'd require an open window and open door or something though.

Cuz Korea is sooo Sparkling, naturally all the dust trapped in the wae-gook's space wants to get out. Something to do with stamina and health (for the dust's sake)... Rolling Eyes

Moving air outside of the window will cause a negative pressure.

air will be drawn from you apartment.

dust will travel with the air.

try the same thing with a cigarette in a moving car.

smoke will be pulled out of the window.

unless you were joking then I feel like an ass.

i think you were joking.

me thinks the dust comes more from the outside

huge number of cremations throughout the city (Seoul) contribute not to mention industrial pollution, automotive exhaust, all unchecked.

opening the windows makes it worse

just check the amount of soot around one's window sill - ever wipe down one near a classroom window?

black as a bar b q grill

major yuck! Shocked
