Anyone out there in Dave'seslland know anything about Andong National University, and the peoples there at present?
What's it like working there?
How well do they respect the job conditions?
Any feedback or experience of the town?
All I know and can find out is that the Queen of Ungland went there several years ago, to check out some other traditional town or something.
Oh yeah, and more importantly, how far is it from the skifields around?
And how far to the coast? And to Taejon, Taegu and Seoul?
The 'Steve' supervisor guy seems genuine enough, via email.
I'm getting good vibes about the place. Can anyone confirm the validity of this?
Know if the foreigners work with anyone else there?
I'm overseas at present, so want to know more of the value of the risk of paying to get myself back there. |

Believe it or not, I know a LOT about Andong, the U...etc.
Yes, Queen Liz was in Andong.
Yes, Andong is beautiful.
Yes, Andong has a lot going for it.
To Daegu...45 minute bus ride.
Seoul? 3 hours.
Just watch out for a Korean who goes by the name of "Monster".
I do not know a "Steve" in Andong, except for a former collegue of mine.
As for the Uni itself..
There are a few good people there, one married to a Korean Bitc* of a lady who will curse you if you speak Korean to her (Foreigners? Learning Korean?? How dare you!).
Personally, I would take the job.
Andong has good character and good places to see. I was at home there.
Like I said, watch out for Koreans who have an agenda. |

I've lived here in Andong for around six weeks and am enjoying it, it's a quiet little city but has enough going for it to keep you entertained in the week. Weekends it's so central and easy to get off to different places for a change of scenery.
Andong also promises to be lush here in the spring, there is a beautiful damn area 5 minutes outside of town that the Nak Dong river runs in to, the river area has tennis/basketball courts and croquet. There are lots of open markets here to explore. If you like hiking there are hills in abundance, skiing wise- not too sure... I think if you're prepared to live in a traditional Korean city then you'll be fine in Andong. |
