Or Fishing, I dont really know the terminology. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but its the first time I've heard about it here.

So, my co-teacher tells me that in the past few weeks two of our parents have gotten mysterious phone calls saying 'I've kidnapped your daughter (or even using her daughter's name) and you should send X money to this account.'

Which explains why there was a bit of a tizzy at school yesterday (a frantic mom came racing in, all distraught).

ANyone else encountered this recently?

luckily, no.

but those people should be publicly shot, hanged, and castrated. preferably in reverse order.

my co said they are from China so it sounds like the Nigerian internet scam things.

Wow, that's horrible. If they are opperating out of China someone aughter contact the embassy. Putting people through that sort of mental anguish is damned evil.

apparently it's well known here (in Korea). We just had a school-wide announcement about it to tell the students to be careful who they talk to/give info to on the internet.

Never heard of this before, but it sounds like something out of a bad movie.
