The situation: you finish your contract and want to stay in Korea but with a different employer. Do you have to go outside the country for your new E-2 visa? Thanks

Simple answer: Yes - you will have to leave the country
Complex Answer that somebody will say they have done it before: NO
but will be so complicated that in the end you still will have to go on a VISA TRIP.

The 'NO' isn't complex, but it has conditions.

1. Have you already finished your contract? If not, continue to #2.

2. Will you have a new employer lined up before you complete your current contract? If yes, continue to #3.

3. Is there any gap between the last day of your current contract and the first day of the contract for your desired job? If no, then go to #4.

4. Will your current employer provide you with a letter of release? If yes, proceed to #5

5. Do you have a new set of documents (health check, CRC, etc.) for immi? If yes, go to 6.

6. Is your new job going to be at a public school? If yes, then it's quite easy. If it's a private academy, I'm not really sure, but it might be possible.

Should you want more specifics, pm me with all the details of your situation.
