My contract ends on May 13th. This week I have sent a barrage of emails to recruiters looking for schools that hire teachers independently, instead of through GEPIK.
I must take this route because GEPIK has rejected my application due to 'multiple applications' from various recruiters.
So, this week I've started to look for the next job.
How long should I wait before I decide to accept a job or return to England?
I have found a decent hagwon, that require a teacher in May. I have a letter of release, to transfer schools should be easy. I am in the process of getting some university transcripts sent to Korea. I purchased them from my university last week, they'll send it to my home address and my family will forward them on to me, in Korea.
I have one unopened set of transcripts in Korea, that I ordered last year. I hope I can use them if required.
So far, my recruiters have found schools that would be interested in hiring a teacher. One school had already hired someone and I'm waiting to hear about the other one.
From your experience, is it likely I will find a school by May? I feel I should, but if I don't I'm seriously considering the hagwon. They have less hours, more pay, the drag is vacation time, but I'm beginning to entertain the idea of a hagwon, I like the concept of small, attentive classes.
I'm not going for SMOE, because I want to be earning for the next few months, all year round really. I don't want to wait until August.
To conclude, how long should I wait before I make a concrete decision? |
