and this -
I can recommend to you an EXCELLENT dentist - the clinic is at MongChontoseong Station (pink link 8 )
pm. - if you want the details - the dentist is very qualified and speaks very good English.
With medical insurance (NHIC) your root canals and fillings are covered and very cheap.
Without medical insurance (or for optional extra service)
- you are looking at
scaling: 50,000~60,000won
root canals 120,000won
fillings (white) 60,000won
caps (white) 250,000won
caps (gold) 400,000won
Teeth whitening/bleaching: (1 hour X 2 times) 450,000won
I just completed having two (2) root canals, fillings, two (2) gold caps, scaling and teeth whitening/bleaching
took me 9 visits to the dentist over a 4 week period and cost me 1.7million - however my teeth are now SPARKLING |

buyer beware:
i went to a very nice, professional and top-university associated dentist clinic in Seoul. i had a cavity, so i figured that i'd get it fixed before i get back to the states, and have to wait a month to see my dentist. bad idea.
the doctor drilled my tooth, then said he'd take imprints, and i'd have to come back. apparently they "explained" that they were going to put a cap on my tooth, but i do not remember any explanation of this. had they explained this, i would've never agreed to get this done in Korea since i was heading back to the states in less then a week.
so only after he drills 1/4 of my tooth away, i find out i need to come back in 3 days for my gold cap. no way. i was irritated, and ended up going to my dentist back in the states, who said he's never seen such a horrible job of drilling in his life. he didn't understand what the doctor in Korea had done, and why he hadn't taken out my filling that was already in my tooth and just fix the tooth. i had to have 1/4 of my tooth built up, but even at 2x the cost of a gold cap, i'm happy to have a normal looking, white tooth again, instead of a flashy gold tooth everyone could see when i smiled.
my fault, of course, for giving the dentist the benefit of the doubt. live and learn,... |

Thanks for the info. Any idea how much it costs to get wisdom tooth pulled without insurance. I get insurance in a few weeks, but I need to get this thing pulled asap. |

I have had at least 20 people pm me for the details -
so I am just going to write it here -
The best English speaking dentist in Seoul -
(well I thought the service was excellent)
MongChontoseong Station (pink line number 8 )
take exit 3 (and as soon as you exit the station you will be standing in front of "Dunkin Donuts)
the dentist is on the third floor (above Dunkin Donuts)
Open times (9am ~6pm) and Saturdays 9am~1pm
Clinics name is "Seoul Herb Dental Clinic"
Its important to phone them and make an appointment
(02) 425-2875 The girl who answers the phone will ask you to wait (when you speak English) and she will fetch the dentist who speaks perfect English..
I went there because I was also having "bad" service at other dentists who couldn't understand the pain I was in
This dentist was kind, friendly, and very professional.
as for how much does it cost to pull a wisdom tooth - I don't know.
one of my teeth that was causing pain - was one of my wisdom teeth.
The dentist - told me he could fix it without pulling it.
and he did. (it is now perfectly fine - after having been put back into its correct place) |

Umm has anyone ever been to this one:
http://www.bostonclinic.co.kr/src/en_index.php
or any other one on http://wiki.galbijim.com/English-speaking_dentists
I'm to the east of Seoul (Guri) but just need a regular checkup/cleaning. I'm not looking to go to the most professional place that probably overcharges but I'm afraid to go to one that will drill a hole into a good tooth :p
There's a "boston dental clinic" in my city that I passed by and a few other local ones (that's why I found that boston link.. off of galbijim, but it's not the same one), but thought I'd rather try seeing if anyone has been to any closer to here and had a positive experience before I walk into those. |
