|
|
First off, I been using Magicjack for about 2 months in the states. I call Canada all the time and I use it as a home phone in NY. It is 20$ per year and all unlimited incoming and outgoing. It can be used in other countries and remains a NY phone number (or where ever you signed up for it). So even in Korea I can call around the US and Canada and it remains local and unlimited.
I was wondering if anyone has used it in Korea and had experience with the internet connection and if there were any connection or speed problems?
I use it in NY on a weak wireless I steal from some guy down the street. It works pretty much perfectly. I am hoping it works the same or better in Korea.
Any experiences?
For those that wonder where you can buy this thing, you can get it at any Radioshack store or online, http://www.magicjack.com/7/index.asp |

We have one; it works just fine here in Korea. As long as you have an internet connection and a phone.
The only problems we've had with it so far include the internet going out in the middle of my phone call, and trying to get them to add more years to my account. My Grandpa bought this and paid for 4 years of service for us, and regardless of how many times we tell them, it still says it expires in April 2009 on my online acct. I will be doing some fighting when I get home, I think... |

We have used ours here for about a year and a half, and the connection is
usually pretty good. We some times get a few dropped calls, but connect again quickly. We also had some billing issues, but eventually sorted it out. They have no customer service number for billing on their web site, and good luck trying to find it. Took me about 3 weeks to track it down. After that the issue was sorted. |

Sounds pretty good. I mean an entire new unit costs 40$ and lasts one year, so worst possible case you spend 40$ a year. I will sure as hell do my best to pay 20$ for a second year though.
Sounds like it works fairly well there~ pretty good for travelers |

I use magic Jack in Korea. Just before a couple of tough classes, I take a few swigs and Magic Jack helps me get through. I recommend buying a few bottles before you come to Korea as it's pretty pricey over here?
Or am I confused with Captain Jack, lol |

After seeing some infomercials on tv--like three in a row, I just stopped at Radio Shack the other day to see what all the fuss was about. I'm in central Pennsylvania and turns out they don't have service in this area. So I'd end up with a long-distance number meaning anyone local calling me would have to dial long distance. And, I assume, pay for a long distance call.
But why should I care? I'm not the one calling me. |

That is a possibility, but me being from new york it's not a problem at all. Luck of the draw I guess? |
