Hi,

I just picked up a '97 CB400. I love this rippin' little thing. I was so stoked to pick one up, never having the opportunity to buy one in the states, and given the fact I see them everywhere here, I ASSUMED I could find mechanics and parts easily.

Well, I can't locate a single source online for OEM parts, and now really have no idea where to get things fixed in or near Ulsan. Does anyone know a good honda mechanic in Ulsan or nearby? Websites for parts? Shops that sell parts?

The fork seals need replacing, the mirrors are shot, the side stand kill switch decides to kill the motor every now and again while evading traffic, and she has a cough at @5000 rpm (jetting?).

Lastly, I'd love to get together and ride with some folks, so sound off.

Cheers,

Beau

Congrats man, that is a sweet looking (and sounding) ride.

Like you, I was smitten with those bikes but then I took one for a test ride and it seemed too small for me. Built for Japanese people I guess.

I thought it lacked a little bottom-end grunt too, but that's probably because I was used to bigger bikes. How's yours, do you find yourself having to rev the nuts off it?

I think you could just go to any local bike shop and ask them to do the basics. oil, filters, chain, sprockets etc. the fork seals should be no problem for them either. They could probably bypass the kill switch as a quick, cheap fix.

Beyond that you might have to find some sort of higher end motocycle shop. Look for one that has a few japanese bikes for sale outside. Those shops should be able to do parts, tyres and tuning.

Can't help you with riding buddies though. Maybe you should post this in the "general discussion forum" instead

Yeah, it is a little small for me. I'm 6'2'' and have had a 900cc, three 1000cc, and one 600cc bike. So, its definitely small. Yes it does lack bottom end grunt, and I certainly do have to rev the piss out of it.

That said, its still fun. Basically, I couldn't afford a bigger bike. But really, for around the city, it can't be beat. Its light and nimble, and once you keep the rpms up, she runs with tons of balls, esp for a 400cc bike! Me likey.

sweet, thanks for the reply. i figured busan would have more selection, i just want to avoid having to go all the way down there to get stuff done. so, the "good" shops there can order whatever i might need from japan then?

if anyone knows of a good mechanic (who does hondas) in ulsan, shout.

cheers

I don't know if he works on Hondas, but I take my bike to Jay's Performance in Bangeojin, it's right next to the bus station. He speaks decent english, and provides quick and cheap repairs/ maintenance. The phone number is 010-4490-6464. Tell Jay the other waygookin sent you. He'll know who you're talking about.

Posted in the General forum thread, just wanted to make sure you see it. Call Jay up, if he can't fix it, he can tell you who can. I actually test drove a CB400 at this store when i first got here.
