Hey I am coming to Korea in August, I am just curious, do NA Artists EVER come to Korea or Japan?
Does anyone know of a band or has seen an American band, big or small, that bothered going East?
I live in Portland and seeing music from time to time is sorta my thing, I could get used to not having it... but I was just curious if anyone ever ventures east. |

The only bands you're going to see here from North America are the big ones, and even they come here very infrequently.
Portland... The Decemberists are awesome. |

| lots of great bands tour japan but rarely make it to korea. the concert scene here is pathetic, unless you're into brit pop (oasis, travis) or 80s hair metal bands (extreme, metallica). the club scene is pretty good for local bands, though. |

Yes.
Although there are a few more underground bands who come here, depending on the tastes of local promoters. We get a large amount of straight-edge hardcore bands like Have Heart, RAMBO, Outbreak, Champion, Down to Nothing, and Terror. There's been some pop punk including Nofx (who sucked), MxPx (who charged way too much), and Queers. We've also had a few trad ska bands like the Slackers and Chris Murray. Every single band that I just named stopped off in Korea after a larger tour in Japan. |

Some good music is to be heard here from time to time but no where near the frequency you would expect in Portland. Anyways check out this site, http://www.koreagigguide.com/
It lists most of the shows concerts. But now and then things are left off. For instace John Lord (of Whitesnake and Deep Purple fame) is coming to Korea and I can't find information about that anywhere.
IMO Japan gets far more and far better concerts than Korea. I did get to see two arena shows here, Judas Priest and Billy Joel. Both were great fun. |

i'll second the decemberists. they always put on a great show, lyrics are amazing too.

oasis was the last band i heard of. but i think there are a couple coming soon for some mud festival or something. |
