It looks like I might have an opportunity to work at a public high school.
I'm still in the middle of my hagwon school contract, but I heard that I can transfer my visa (after working it out with the owner) instead of having to cancel my visa and leave the country to make a new visa.
Would that mean I wouldn't have to provide all the usual documentation again...diplomas, transcripts or background check?
Possible? |

Yea, you'll have to do all that stuff, but you can save the trip. You'll have to wait until your 9th month before you can start at the other school. Change locations with immigration and extend your current visa. Don't get an exit order.
You will need a Letter of Release, but that letter has to be dated like 2 weeks before you actually plan on teaching at the new school (at least that's what I was told). So, don't get this until you have all the other stuff ready.
If you work with a recruiter, they will provide you a list of what you need. Chances are, that list will be more accurate than what teachers tell you here.
The criminal background check probably takes the longest, so get that first. Your medical check (if needed) might take a week. Transcripts are pretty straightforward, and you could do that anytime (might as well as get those when you get the CBC). |
