Newspapers just pick stories and put them in their papers, and give no credit to the original writers. Then koreans cry and try to sue when Cambodia tries to copy those losers the wonder girls because of a stupid song. Crying or Very sad

korea, land of ethics Idea

That is my point....

There is a story.......then some small observation by a korean doctor. So what happened was the writer found the article, then called the doctor in korea to give his opinion, and bingo, front page news for the korea paper. NO CREDITS or names, just an interesting article that appeared out of nowhere. Crying or Very sad

Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
What?!?! Am I revisiting High School???
hahahahahahaha

Ashland: Be nice.
Alyssa: Perhaps it would be wise, and ethical of you, to post some proof of this. Such as a link to one of the articles you read that made you cry out these accusations along with "the real article". If you're not citing your sources or proof, then aren't you doing the same thing that you claim these newspapers are doing???

"Why do you care?" is a legitimate question. You were in such a bbali bbali hurry to get here, then you couldn't wait to leave, now you're reading Korean newspapers and still posting on a Korean board. The question is valid and I think you should answer it.

Why do you even care?

Easy answer:

Article is AP or Reuters (or any one of numerous for hire news agencies).

No newspaper in the world has the money to cover everything it's readers want to read about so they put their money into the local and big news stories and buy stories for everything else. The same AP story can be read in a single day in hundreds of newspapers around the world.

For someone who claims to have moved on to greener pastures in Japan, it's strange that Alyssa is so focused on what is wrong with Korea. Perhaps things aren't as green in Japan as she lets on?

What are you talking about, JAPAN IS GOLD!!!! I love each new day! I have found my utopia, my shangrla, and I want to live here forever, it is far superior to korea, and I will never go back Laughing

ha Ha Ha..........

did you not read my latest post...... here it is........................

1. I have many new friends in Japan...............I am married, did you know that? Just tonight we had a tako yaki party with about 14 friends, learned how to make it, bought the little machine, the flour, the squid and the other ingrediants on my way home. I am learning Japanese and I LOVE IT!

Any ways, why do I post on daves esl cafe...............I think out of pure joy. Do you know the feeling of having gotten out of something you hated, and then looking at your new life, and then going back to look at it again. It is like leaving middle school, and going to High school, and then you go back and laugh at those students who went through the same thing you did. It is fun! Plus, I have so much free time, and a nice quiet apartment, so I surf, and come back to daves, and laughed, and was glad I did not get hepat. A, and glad I am not pushed, and glad I have a great new life, and glad I can come back and watch the zoo again, fun, fun, FUN...............

I am not comparing myself to a high schooler, just the experience of going back to middle school AS a high schooler. It was fun.

I guess you stepped in too many piles of spit today, or else to many people pushed you, cheer up Idea

I personally like what Alyssa posts. It could be refined a bit, but it does speak of some serious complex inquiries.

For example, what interests me about this (and if not this in particular, the many other times it's been done) is that it opens a serious rift in Korean social discourse.

On the one hand, Koreans like to surround themselves with the fantasy of everyone in the world being tuned into what they do (no specific proof necessary here - unless you're a numbskull). On the other hand, they feel safe in cheating, copying, plagiarizing because they don't think anyone in the world would catch onto what is happening in Korea.

In other words, in one gesture Korea creates a fantasy for itself, yet in another gesture it bursts that very fantasy.

It's junctures like these I really find fascinating.

Well either way you revealed a pathetic slice of your psyche to us all. Thanks so much.
