I'm assuming the idea of being a recruiter freelance/part time is not an original idea on here...
Someone I had asked said some figure that was like 10% (or more I don't remember) of their annual salary? Seemed a bit high? |

I tried working with a recruiter last year to get a replacement teacher for me so I could find another school. They wanted me to pay them 1 million. |

Life in K is about right. 1-1.2m per body for the agency, as someone working for a recruiting company you should recieve about 400-500 per body- the rest is overheads and the owners cut.
Create, PM me if you need more info.
Think carefully about it before starting- it ain't covered by yr visa, and there is more work involved than most teachers think. An incredible amount of people bail out at the last moment, after you put a lot of time in to them - you won't be compensated for this at all. There is also a long delay between the noob hitting Incheon and you getting paid.
To do it properly you also need to be available for about 3 months after they hit the deck, mostly for little things, but a dozen people with two dozen little problems soon becomes a pain in the ass. |

The best recruiter will be nearby to help you get around when you land, lend you money when you run short the first month, and even help you with a LOR, find a new job, and do your visa run when the crapwan they swore would be great turns out to be a contract-breaking hellhole you read about here on Dave's. |

What? Recruiters lending money? Helping while you are here?
*shaking my head*
My recruiter, nearly 2 years ago now, was gone the moment I landed in Korea. Job finished.
Lending money! lmao. |

I was told by a recruiter that for 2009, SMOE and Busan EPIK are only paying recruiters 900 000 and expect them to be responsible for 'after care' for 9 months.
Also in this fee they expect the recruiter to pick up teacher from airport and deliver teacher, and cost of courier FedEX visa papers to teacher. Obviously not a lot of profit in this !!!
I believe all EPIK agents get 1 million and have same conditions to pay for such as Fed ex fees and airport collection.
How can recruiters make any profit on getting teachers for public schools if the fees are split with an agent in USA and one in Korea at 450 000 each? The USA dollar conversion surely makes this uneconomical? |

Those are the lowest figures I've heard for recruiting. While I have my doubts over the accuracy of those figures, a point to bare in mind is that SMOE/BUSAN EPIK positions practically sell themselves. Every single intake they are over subscribed, so there is a lot less "recruiting" work required, just the admin. |
