...i've heard dermatologists do it here (pi boo gwa) but i cant seem to find one that will and speaks english. my korean friend says its cheap, W10,000 per mole. this would be good for me, i could probably drop a W100,000 a month and still not be mole free for a good 6 months or so.
anyone had it done? mind helping me out with directions or a number?
thx in advance
...one that does laser hair removal as well would be great but not necessary |

| I had laser mole removal when I was in Korea but it was on Jeju so that probably won't help you much. It might not be necessary for them to speak English. I went to a place that one of my coworkers gave me directions to and managed to convey what I wanted. Fortunately, both areas I wanted worked on were in visible areas and I was just able to point to get them to understand. The doctor who did it spoke a little English but not much. It was a little scary because they weren't able to explain to me what was going on but it turned out fine. One was behind my ear and one was on my neck close to my collar bone so the injections they gave me to numb the area were the most painful part of the procedure. I didn't feel a thing when they used the laser. I did end up with a small scar on my neck-either they overburned that area or it got infected, but it's small and barely noticeable. I think I might have spent 15,000 won for everything. Not bad and I was happy with the results. |

Hmmm... don't know why they would give you a local anaesthetic for laser removal, they're not allowed to anywhere in N. America. I mean, the pain is there but does it warrant an anaesthetic for a few zaps?
As far as the scarring goes, that's kind of a BIG deal. Imagine if it was on your face not your neck. You probably wouldn't be too happy. |

| I prefer to have an anesthetic if I'm having a painful procedure done. Being burned with a laser doesn't sound pleasant so I don't have a problem with being given a local. The scar is where I had a skin tag that had apparently gotten infected before I had it removed and was the only spot that was sore after the procedure. Not sure why that area scarred and the other didn't but it's small and not worth agonizing over for the rest of my life. I would never risk having a cosmetic procedure done to my face in Korea or anywhere else unless the benefits outweighed the risk-i.e. laser removal versus a huge hairy mole in the center of my forehead or plastic surgery versus leaving a gaping wound to heal on its own. |

| I want this done too. If I get laser eye surgery and my moles removed, I'll come back to the states looking like a new person. |

Well, you can probably get it done at the English speaking dermatologist/doctors well known to expats:
http://novaskin.co.kr/
http://wooskin.co.kr/
the guy at wooskin speaks damn good english, the site has an english link, and he does do mole removal. Personally, I would give preference to woo (even though nova guy trained in the states as well), and wouldn't bother looking beyond these two. |

From the wooskin website:

| We offer the comprehensive examinations, all STD tests, cosmetic laser surgery and diagnosis and extensive aesthetic procedures. |
A dermatology clinic that offers STD tests? |

Why not? Nothing wrong with maximizing your consumer base.
People on here have had nothing but good things to say about the latters laser hair removal procedures.
As for STD tests, would you rather have it done at a dodgy Korean hospital where the nurses don't want to wear gloves before injecting you and after barehandedly handling multiple blood-sampled syringes?
Besides, how do you know that the place you went to in Jeju didn't also offer those services? By your own admission, they didn't speak much english and you obviously didn't ask, right?
The guy is geared to foreigners and so he is going to try and make money off as many medical services that foreigners might be interested in. |

Well, that is kind of my dilemma. I have a mole on the side where the nose meets the face that has always kind of bugged me. It's not brown and hairy, more like skin tone, but definitely noticeable. I don't like it but I don't want some huge crater to takes it place.
I have done ok with it all these years. You might even say if gives my face character. But.......ok, that's it. I will go in for an evaluation. Thanks!

I've had 4 moles removed here in South Korea. All have been successful with no scarring, but it hurts like a bitch!
I've been to two doctors. One in Apgujong speaks perfect English and is quite professional. His clinic is called Dream Clinic: http://www.e-dream.co.kr/about/english/staffs.aspx
20,000 won per mole.
It's in the same building as Hooters.
You're welcome. |

You just need to keep the wound clean and disinfect it, they also prescribe basic antibiotics.
Anyway they did for my wife, she had a few big ones removed from her face. I was a bit angry because I liked those moles (they were pretty). But her family has history of skin cancer, so it was better to remove. |
