Hey guys....
Just looking for a bit of info..i'm coming to Korea in the next few weeks on a holiday visa with the intention of maybe finding work down the line. I sometimes have trouble sleeping and sometimes use diazepam to help....I currently have quite a few diazepam tabs and was wondering would it be a big deal to be caught bringing them through the airport.needless to say i dont have a prescription!
just hoping u could give me a heads up.

No worries.
I mean don't like carry them in a ziplock baggie or something.
Just a medicine or vitamin container.
Honestly, I've arrived in Korea numerous times over the years and NEVER not been waved straight on through customs. |

You keep them in a small bottle in your pocket. They never search your pocket. Preferably, you'll want them in prescription bottle.
When you get here, you can get alprazolam or klonopin. Klonopin is more effective for sleep. Diazapam (valium) is nice, but not so good for insomnia. Alprazolam acts faster but lasts about 4 hours. Clanazapam (sp?) (klonopin) lasts about 8 hours (so, works great for sleep!).
PM if you need a doctor who will RX you benzos in th Korea. |

I hope you plan on coming to scout things out, then going back home. From what I hear, you have to do interviews back in your home country to come, if it's your first time.
a good stiff drink helps with onset-insomnia, too. that, or maybe counting sheep. it's all good...  |

No, that is something you definitely need to say. Taking those drugs without a prescription would get you fired anywhere in the world. Taking them, even with a prescription, might just get you fired in Korea anyways. Specifically, you must list any illnesses and medications you take. If you list that you take anti-anxiety drugs, places might not hire you. And if you lie, they can deport you.
Bringing them to Korea without a prescription would be drug trafficking across international borders... Korea takes its drug crimes very seriously. I would never, ever, ever bring benzos to Korea without a prescription. |

This is bad information. You can have your first E-2 visa issued in a 3rd country. I had mine issued in Bangkok. It will require that you have your degree verified by the KCUE. This must be done by your future employer. |
