I'm thinking of getting a Kindle. Anyone out there have one? Is it worth the 350.00$? And please don't make fun of me here cause I really don't know - will the Kindle work in Korea? How do you pay for books, etc as Amazon is American and I don't have an American credit card?

I think the Kindle is great for avid readers, and well worth it if you read contemporary literature.

But it is not available internationally yet.

But when you head back to America, check it out.

The best features of the Kindle, the wireless downloads and the free web access, are useless in Korea... If your heart is set on an e ink reader... I'd go for the Sony...

Do you all think it'd be better to wait it out - like 6 months or so - and see if the prices go down and the quality goes up - for both Sony and the Kindle?

You can always get an Itouch. You can download a Kindle application and then read all books that are available on Kindle. It's great. I use it all the time. I have been able to download wirelessly at home and at a few hot spots.

Looks too small. Doesn't it get bothersome to read a book that way?

Well, it's not as good as the Kindle, but it's not a Kindle. I use it a few times a week while I have nothing to do at school. The benefit is that I already had the Itouch. I didn't purchase it to read books. Now, I don't have to shell out any money for the Kindle.

It's also not locked down like the Kindle. If I'm not mistaken, if you have a non-purchased text file on your computer, you have to e-mail it to Amazon and pay 10 cents per document for them to convert it to whatever format the kindle uses.

That would be cool. Shame you have to be American to download the Kindle app. I've used Stanza to read a novel. It's good not great. The size of the text is good but having to flip pages all the time is a pain. I would say reading on the ipod is 3 quarters as good as a real book.
