I'm completely burned out on the whole temple thing, too. But if you're going with a girlfriend, just act interested, ask lots questions, and take pictures. No problem complaining about it on here; just put up a good front when you're out with her. It will make you look like a better boyfriend. |

Is she Buddhist? if that's the case, then it's not about the temple, but rather, the time spent there. |

well you do have a choice remember!
plus its not just about the temple! a lot of the times its where the temple is
usually situated around a nice mountain or trees etc.. you are not just looking at the temple. then again it depends on which temple you going too
but I thought the same way too, but then I realized every temple was different because the surrounding location was so different.. |

Just got back from daeinsa.
Supposedly the cherry blossoms are well known this time of year. actually it was a gridlocked 6 km road that was lined with cherry blossoms and traffic congestion. I think I've been here too long. |

Visiting traditional old places is one the most special things about travel. Especially during Spring when all these tree bloom flowers. It's very pretty in Seoul right now, but not in cold Gangwondo. Give it another week or so on Gangwon taebeak mountain range region. It was reported it's clearly Spring in the southern part of the country and is nothing less than beautiful. It just takes so danged long to jaunt across the country if not using KTX with only 2 day weekends. You can get a glimpse on a Saturday afternoon if determined and lucky to find your way, but have to turn right around early Sunday morning.
I feel a week Spring break would be perfect for Korea and Japan as that's the prettiest time to get out there to see the old places. Too bad they don't, becuase they too love Spring and visiting temples and historic sites during nice weather. |

I would have been happy just getting one national holiday off this spring...sigh...wishful thinking, I guess. |

We get Tuesday May 5th, Childrens day off as it's red on the calendar. Friday July 17th is also an official holiday which makes a 3 day weekend. I want my Spring break, Easter, Memorial Day, and 4th of July! LOL |

Japan has this magical Sakura festival where everyone gathers under the trees on big blue tarps and just get hammered all day long. Sometimes every day of the week.
It's just fantastic.
Yoido was a little dissapointing after that. |
