So I'm renewing my U.S. passport and I'm a little worried about what's going to happen to my multi re-entry visa. Anyone know if they transfer it to my new passport or not? |

I've dealt with the same issue before. The visas are issue to the individual, not the passport. As long as you carry the passports together, it's fine.
I've also heard of passports being sewn together, but not sure what this entails.
Finally, you might want to call immigration just to be totally sure about it. |

Bad advice by the poster above. The actual procedure is to take the old passport, your Alien Registration Card, and your new passport to your local Immigration office. You complete a form requesting a visa in your new passport and the visa is stamped into the new passport. The Immigration officer will update your file with your new passport information. All of this costs nothing. |

CentralCali is right. What's more, a new passport is a change that is required to be reported to Immi within 15 days. As CentralCali stated, there's no charge associated with this. |

Actually, I've done both. The first time I got a new passport I was told to transfer the visa. The second time I got a new passport, went back to the same immigration office, but to a different officer, and was told to just carry the two passports together.
So check with your local immi office and let them deal with it. |

First of all, you're supposed to let Immigration know the details of your new passport.
From the HiKorea immigration guide website:
Quote: |
If any of the following incidents should occur to a registered foreigner, it must be reported to the local Immigration Office within 14 days from its occurrence:
- Change of passport number, issuance date or its expiration date |
(I can't post a direct link. Go to the above website, click on "Immigration Guide" in the INFORMATION section at the top of the page, click on "Foreigner Sojourn" on the menu on the left, click on "Obligatory declarations", and then move to the blue box at the top and click on "Obligation to Report Changes to the Details in Foreigner Registration Card".)
Secondly, when I got my new passport I went to the immigration office to report the changes, and they just put a new re-entry stamp in my new passport. |
