| How dangerous is it to be running around hard outside for long periods of time? If I were to wear a mask would that even help, and what kind of mask? Are there any fully loaded gyms around with indoor tracks, pools, a gym, etc? Also, where can I check the air quality each day? |

| For air quality you could try Air Korea. I would imagine the normal masks do help, but realize you're not wearing a rebreather it's just a piece of cloth/tissue so it's not going to do all that much to protect you from yellow dust or other particles that may be in the air. |

LOL!
I'm sorry but sure there are some days when it isn't too great in terms of air quality but in no way is Seoul a problem for runners!
I run hundreds of kilometers every month without a problem. I've even found the air quality to have improved over the last few years.
So if you are coming to Seoul - bring your running shoes! lots of great little mountains all over Seoul for running, many paths, lots of places to get water, friendly fellow runners around, lots of races every weekend, unfenced tracks that anyone can run on etc.....

| Is there a certain time of year when the smog levels are lower than others? Like right now, I can barely see several kilometers away.. |

| I used to regularly average 80+ km a week, with some 15 and 20k runs every weekend. I dont do it anymore because of foot problems. I never experienced any problems due to air conditions. These days I ride a stationary bike for 45-60 minutes every day. If I hadnt just bought a car I would buy a bike. The air quality isnt the greatest but its not that bad. Avoid running in the yellow dust, but otherwise run or bike. |

There a plenty of outdoor runners in Seoul, the problem is to find a place to run. perhaps you dont live near a suitable place. There are lots of runners doing ther thing along the Han River, or in some of the larger parks. |

| Better them than me, I for one have altered my lifestyle. Any intense aerobic activity is always done indoors. |

For me as well, different reasons ofcourse. Id love to get back to serious outdoor running, though. |

Just don't run early in the morning, especially when its foggy. Normally air near earth's surface gets heated up pretty quickly (thanks to the sun) and rises up, taking contaminants and what not with them. But at dawn the surface is cool, hence the air is dense, and all the pollutants linger around until the sun heats them all up in the afternoon. Ergo if you jog early morning you're inhaling all those nasty stuff accumulated since previous night. |
