Being a vegetarian and eating squid would not make you vomit for hours. You need to go to see a doctor. Been a vegetariian for decades , occasionally have eaten some meat, that I didnt know was in the food. Big deal. It's a health, philosophy decision , not a prison sentence. Seriously something is wrong to have this sort of reaction.

Being a vegetarian here would suck. You'd be able to eat nothing but kimchi and rice.

Kimchi is usually made with fish stock and fish paste, it's not vegetarian unless you make it yourself.

A good friend of mine is veggie and he has a piece of paper on it that says "No meat or fish please, I am a vegetarian." in Korean and he shows the waiter if they don't understand him when he asks for no meat. It's fairly straightforward, just translate whatever you want to say and then write it down and keep it in your wallet.

You can order lots of things and have them bring them with no meat - bibimbap is always a good choice and they sell it basically everywhere.

Find your closest kimbap nara place! And memorize or print this menu translation, it will become your best friend. http://maryeats.com/2006/11/16/kimbap-nara-menu/

You normally don't get sick on squid; it was spoiled and you probably got salmonella food poisoning. This also happens occassionally with mishandled chicken such as leaving it out of the fridge too long before cooking or lacking refridgeration for too long after it's killed.

The Word for Allergy is the same in Korean. Just say it in a Korean accent. Works all the time with me.

Korean go overboard when it comes to pushing their cuisine on foreigners. They don't get the whole fear factor concept that we experience. If you see something that makes you want to heave just scream allergy

The other reason I agreed with Mr. Zantetsuken is his avatar is pretty damn sweet. Mr. Rhodes was one, if not the best at his game. Nicely done sir!!!
