My school's is next week as well. They "decided" to have it on the same day as election day (april 8th) so we only get 1 day off instead of 2. Regardless, I still have to use a vacation day. I still don't understand that part.

You most definitely should not have to use a vacation day as the election day should be treated like a national holiday. I'd fight that one!

Use your school's birthday, which is a school holiday according to your school and teachers and probably in their calender, as one of your vacation days??? Come on!!!! What is that all about? Never heard such a thing...ever. If that's true, fight that crap. Definately.

We're having a 6.5K race. And I'm gonna win no matter how many 14 year old girls I have to shove aside. Twisted Evil

Trust me, I tried. Once I finally got my point across, I was told that ALL the teachers at my school have to use a vacation day. Because it's not a NATIONAL holiday. Just province wide. Rolling Eyes So I have to use my paid leave, even though the school will not be open, and no one will be here. Something the principal decided, apparently. The other teachers weren't pleased about it either, but I don't know what I can do at this point.

It appears I will likely be desk-warming this summer vacation too; that's a battle I'd rather fight.

The day off tomorrow is just a gyeonggi-do thing, because it's the elections for this specific province. I assume other areas have different days off?
