some questions about iMacs.
1. Its an all on 1 computer. Is it a pain in the butt to upgrade?
2. Are parts inside it easy to swap out (bad power supply, crashed HD, etc...)
3. What happens if there is something wrong with the LCD screen after using it for a year or 2?
I'm thinking about getting one, but I don't want to buy it if it means I'll have to buy a whole new system if a single component fails. |

You should be able to get service for your MAC while in Korea. You can give them a call at 080-330-8877 though you might need someone who can speak Korean to assist you with questions. |

I don't know about iMac, but the macbook was really easy to upgrade ram and hard drive, and that's smaller than the imac.
You can do a google search on specific models and find lots of helpful materials for macs, since there are so many users of one model. Also Apples website has some helpful information on how to upgrade certain components by yourself. |

1. It is a major pain in the hiney to upgrade iMac. RAM is the only thing you can access easily.
2. The parts inside are very difficult to access. You have to remove the glass (front screen) with suction cups in order to gain access to HDD... which is the only thing you really can change other than the RAM. CPU and GPU are soldered in place and are not replaceable.
3. Outside of warranty/Apple Care plan... pretty much nothing can be done. Well, you could use external monitor -- at least with the latest models -- but where would the fun be in that?
TOTAL: If you want to upgrade your machine do NOT buy iMac. |

iMacs now come with 1TB hard drives and 4 GB RAM, expandable to 8GB.
Considering the efficiency of the OS, that is way more than you'll ever need.
I run Logic Studio, which is a pig, recording 12 tracks of midi instruments, while downloading a few files in uTorrent on just 2GB RAM and a 2.33Ghz processor, and don't get any noticeable lags at all.
My system is half of what is out there now.
If you're going to by one, wait until about June, when Snow Leopard OS comes out. It will be included, along with iLife, and add even more punch to the system. |

You can upgrade the HD as long as the HD is the same size dimensions....
Ram is no problem. LCD screen is NOT going to have any issues. It is highly unlikely to have a problem.
They are excellent machines. Personally have a 3.06Ghz 24"... it is lightning fast! |
