Jesus Christ, CNN. Get back to talking about the news please. And stop this hero-worshipping the Messiah and now his wife, apparently the other Messiah...

Heather Ferreira works in the slums of Mumbai, India, where she has watched thousands of women live under a "curse."
The women she meets in the squalid streets where "Slumdog Millionaire" was filmed are often treated with contempt, she says. They're considered ugly if their skin and hair are too dark. They are deemed "cursed" if they only have daughters. Many would-be mothers even abort their children if they learn they're female.
Yet lately she says Indian women are getting another message from the emergence of another woman thousands of miles away. This woman has dark skin and hair. She walks next to her husband in public, not behind. And she has two daughters. But no one calls her cursed. They call her Michelle Obama, the first lady.

A Frank Zappa line requires a John Lennon response:
Woman is the nigger of the world
Yes she is...think about it
Woman is the nigger of the world
Think about it...do something about it
We make her paint her face and dance
If she won't be a slave, we say that she don't love us
If she's real, we say she's trying to be a man
While putting her down, we pretend that she's above us
Sometimes it seems like us white men can't get a break anywhere in the world. Times are tough all over. Did the Cubs win their game last night? |

CNN is losing it. Next they'll take a page from MSNBC correspondents and talk about how Obama sends a tingle down their spine.
It's really reached the point of being maudlin. And how presumptuous to believe Indian women will identify with an African American woman simply over skin color. It's shallow reporting of the worst sort.
A recent survey of the media found that Obama received 58% favorable press from the mainstream media in his first 100 days compared to 42% for Clinton in 1993 and 34% for Bush in 2000.
CNN did not participate in the poll. I'll wager, though, that their positive coverage of Obama was at least 65%.
Sad, really, how they slobber over him. The newest angle is that he's the first "hip" president. Being Black, I suppose, automatically entitles him unless its the constant use of the Blackberry.
But wait, I thought Clinton was the original hipster, what with his saxophone playing in sunglasses on the Arsenio Hall Show and eating out at McDonalds.
I really am getting tired of how liberal Blacks eat up this sort of gratuitous press, too.
Yes, Obama is hip, as in shooting from it. Bang. |

We all expect a bit of fluff from cable news considering they have 24 hours a day to fill and there are only so many events to be "rocked" by, but when we hit a point at which CNN is spending Obama's 100th day in office "assessing his swagga" something is amiss.
T.J. Holmes sat down with four men who were never identified by name or title (as if we weren't supposed to care about who they were, just that they were black) to talk about Obama's "swagga." They were sweet and did the best they could with such a ridiculous topic, but anchor Kyra Phillips was way over the top. She asked for the theme song to "Shaft" to be played, she talked about Obama's "flava" and she insisted on getting a fist bump at the end. Here are her choicest moments... |

Meanwhile the only station critical of him (Fox) beats the next three combined in ratings. |
