|
|
So I recently left my old job at a public school to start working at a hagwon. When I started the job at the public school, I was on an E2 but I switched to an F4 in anticipation of finding a new job. My old co-teacher just called me asking for my ARC number which I gave her. I asked why she needed it and she said they have to submit something to the Busan immigration office about me changing a job. Is this really necessary? (I thought since I am on an F4 immigration doesn't need to know if you quit/ start a new job since my school isn't sponsoring me...) The only reason I ask is because I got my F4 through the Seoul immigration office even though I was supposed to get it through the Busan immigration office since my new and old location are in that area. So I don't want any unnecesary red flags showing that I am not working in the Seoul area as was the assumption when they issued my F4 visa... |

If you are on an F2, F4 or F5 immigration doesnt want to know anything about your employment status.
Visas are given for the entire country. It doesnt matter where you got it, you can work wherever you want in Korea. |

An (likely correct) assumption is that they want to ensure that the E-2 visa that you were issued when they were your sponsor is cancelled. They want to make sure all their paperwork is in order. Probably nothing else. |

The E2 is automatically canceled by the F4. You cant have two visas at the same time. |

Okay. Just saying they're likely trying to cover their own backsides. |
