I think it depends on who you work for. I've always had election days off (but I'm a public employee).

What kind of election?

(As an aside related to Gyeonggi-do, there's some kind of election related to the provincial education ministry on April 8th. Public school teachers in Gyeonggi-do might find they have a day off that day - I've been told that I do.)

Hey wylies, there doesn't seem to be anything national that day. Which province are you in?

Now that public schools are following the hogwon industry, some PS's aren't giving that day off to public school teachers.

The education industry is going downhill again thanks to the usual greed found in corrupt Korea.

I'll accept what ever the K-teachers accept.

I wonder if any schools will try 'this one' -
On election day all classes are canceled and the teachers have the day off to vote... except the foreign, English teacher who must come in and 'desk warm' because he/she is inelligible to vote.

Not all those Korean teachers who have taken previous election days off have bothered to vote.

Bet my school will. That's what they usually do.

I'm Gepik, and my school has midterms scheduled for April 29th. I get the 8th off though.

What the...? You mean to tell me Korea is corrupt? I heard hagwons took off no election day back in December of 2007. I didn't know Korea was corrupt, but thanks for filling me in. I have been warned.
