I have to teach a lesson tomorrow and all I have is a vocabulary list of school items, pen, pencil, eraser, etc. I made some sample sentences to teach them and thought I could put together an activity, but I'm not sure if that is enough. If anyone has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!

I like to incorporate prepositions with school objects (on/under the table, in the box, etc...)

Sorry, I should have included that. 4th grade at a public elementary school. There are 12 students in the class and their levels are varied with most at the lower end.

I just taught a lesson on that last week.

Goal was to get them to use the phrases "What's this?" and "It's a Pencil/ruler/pen/bag/chair/desk..."

I first made flashcards by printing them off the internet (or off the cd-rom if you have the national cirriculum) and taught them the names of the objects, then held them up and said "what's this?" and had them name the objects, to get them familiar with the question, then had them repeat as a full sentence "It's a ______" until they could do that comfortably, then we played a version of hot potato where they passed around a flash card and when the music stopped everyone asked "what's this?" and the student with the card had to answer. Halfway through I made the student with the card ask the question and the group had to answer.

There's a great ABC thread on eflclassroom. I'm sure you can find ways to incorporate them (ABCs and vocabulary).
