so let's hear your take on the best neon displays. that's one of the sights I shared when some folks from the U.S. came to visit. now I want to shoot some video and would love to hear people's comments on where they think the best nighttime neons are!
my faves are near Seonsu-dong, Kongkik Univ, Jongno area, and Chongbukdae in Jeonju. |

Yeonsinnae up in the northwest of Seoul is pretty good, I think. Not as cluttered as Kangnam but pretty Bladerunner-y still.
Bupyeong in Incheon too does a good job of striking that balance as well. |

If by Konkik you meant Kon-guk (aka 건대/건국대학교/건대입구역) then I'd agree there is a cool street there. Apart from that, in Seoul the Hongdae area has a coupla good neony streets.
Outside of Seoul there is an area in Ansan.. I believe in the old part of town but I may be wrong.. that has an awesome little square with 10-20story high buildings neoned up on every floor on three or maybe four sides which is really impressive looking. I think its near the station. It's probably got the highest amount of neon I've ever seen in one place actually, in pure concentration. Someone else probably knows what I'm talking about better than I do, so hopefully they'll chip in. I've only ever traveled through. |

Sincheon in the street behind the main road is OK, the main road used to be too, but they seem to be replacing the neon in a lot of places in a misguided attempt to make Seoul "less confusing to foreigners".
Every Gyeonggi-do satellite city will have some awesome neon streets. |

The busy street near Konkuk University (geondae) is definitely the best place to see neon lights. Man, you have to do a Corey Hart and wear sunglasses at night to walk in that area. |

yeah I meant Konkuk, sorry -
it's interesting - if anything says "asia" it's the colorful neon lights - would be a shame to see them disappear - |

and I recommend taking the neon lights at night after it has rained. Then you have the neon glare off the road too. Make for great picture. |

In Incheon there's an area with about 1-2 kilometers of night club and room salon neon lights that truly rivals what you might see in Vegas. Brighter than Fremont street for sure. It's somewhere near Juan in central Incheon. Sorry can't remember to be exact. Any locals that can be more specific?
Lived in Incheon back in 2003. I remember taking the city bus through that area one evening. Never got to go back though |

Sinchon is probably the most overwhelming. You also have to deal with huge crowds, so that's the most quintessential Asia experience. |

the streets running parallel to the Cheonggyecheon and the big main Jongno road near Jonngak station are pretty well lit up. |

Yeongdeungpo has a pretty hefty helping of neon signs too. |

Sinchon (신촌)is the one on line 2 near Hongdae.
Sincheon (신천)is the one on line 2 near Jamsil.
Of course if people don't follow the romanization rules or don't use Korean it is hard to tell them apart =) Anyway both of them have quite a lot of neon. |
