My girlfriend mentioned that Korean 'English' teachers will be getting bi-monthly bonuses (not sure how much) and she was wondering if NETs would get that too. Anyone heard of that?

I don't know anything about foreigners getting a bonus.

I work for GEPIK and know a number of Korean public school teachers quite well, though. In theory, they get two bonuses this month.

Public school teachers get a base salary and a bonus every month. Then, they should be getting an annual bonus this month. That would be 'two bonuses'. The first bonus on top of their base salary just gets added into their paychecks, though, and it really doesn't change month to month. It's really just part of the paycheck. An English teacher's monthly 'bonus' is less than homeroom teachers.

The other one is just a yearly thing. Native teachers don't get that bonus, of course.

Now... all of this is based on elementary school teachers. Jr high and High school could be all different.

I know the Korean PS teachers are working a lot more than I am so they deserve a bonus. Especially for working 2 Saturdays a month. While I was out enjoying nice weather and cherry blossoms, they had to come in to work. I think Korean homeroom teachers and office staff are paid more than me too. I think I'm at the bottom rung and not getting bonuses nor commissions, but I'm not going to inquire within on that one either.

Sales staff and teachers usually get a bi-monthly bonus of 1.5~2 times. This is usual practice for Koreans. Unfortunately they keep this pretty hush hush otherwise we would demand more renumeration.

Found this out from the missus whilst in Korea.
