Does anyone know of any parks or fields with open air outdoor BBQ pits?

I want to cook out some weekend, but I haven't found any parks with public use BBQ pits, does anyone know of any?

Yes, you buy a thin metal BBQ grate for like 2,000 won, go to a rocky river or place with rocks, prop the grate on rocks, start a fire, and you have rocky mountain BBQ. Going to do it this weekend. The charcoal is not cheap, but it's high quality natural carbonized wood charcoal.

Available at Emart and most small grocery stores. I got charcoal at Emart, but seen it in my local small grocer as well as those metal grates.

I just got a Weber Smokey Joe at Costco a few weeks ago Very Happy Charcoal here is a little different than the square compact briquets, and charcoal lighter doesn't seem to exist.

I picked up a fold up portable grill on Gmarket for about 18,000 won. thing comes with a zip up carrying case also. Check it out. Well worth it and you can use it almost anywhere. I mean, within reason.

Links? Or does Gmarket have an English part of the site?

Here is a link.
http://www.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=129303140&pos_shop_cd=SH&pos_class_cd=111111111&pos_class_kind=T&keyword_order=bbq&search_keyword=bbq

Or, you can just go to Gmarket and type in BBQ on the Korean site or the English site.

We bought a large bag of Kingsford charcoal at Emart for 10,000KRW. The taste is much better than the Korean charcoal. I find I really have to let the Korean charcoal burn for a while to get all of the lighter fluid out of it.

I would not recommend using the round chemical impregnated charcoal patties they sell in plastic wrap here. Horrible smell, and I can only imagine the nasty stuff getting on the food. (I've tried them. What a disaster.)

I completely agree with you there. We used that stuff and it would smoke for about 10 minutes. We would have to wait another 10 minutes for the horrid smell to go away.

We use this now: http://www.gmarket.co.kr/challenge/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=130184190&pos_shop_cd=SH&pos_class_cd=111111111&pos_class_kind=T&keyword_order=kingsford&search_keyword=kingsford

Since we don't have light fluid, I bought a torch that you place on the top of a butane can. I blast the coals for a couple of minutes and it ignites with no problem and no chemicals.

Mmm mmm good. Steaks this weekend.

Is gmarket the outfit that delivers? If so, I'm all over that.

I think 10kilos for 20,000 is not a bad deal at all right now. One bag should last maybe 4 or 5 BBQs, so the fuel price is still ok.
