Hey everyone, I have a offer from cdi coming up, I was just wondering if I could get in touch with anyone who has experience teaching there. And yes, I have looked up many threads using the search function, it's just that I would like to personally talk to anyone with exp. The amount of flak that cdi gets on this site is amazing, and I am wondering how accurate all this negative feedback really is. I have a relatively good offer on the table, not sure if I am allowed to post actual numbers, I am supposed to get more details. I sent in my visa documents through Aclipse, and I realize that was probably idiotic because I only have an initial contract and should get getting the details soon, but from what I had heard from the recruiter and what I read about it seemed like a decent place. By the way, I realize that their vacation time is really crummy, I am not the lazy type just going there to mess around. I definitely want to have fun in my spare time, but I am also willing to put my dues in at the job. If possible, it would be great to get in touch with someone currently working at a chungdahm, but any feedback whether positive or negative would really be appreciated as long as its serious. I am not sure what to do at this point and any help would be great.
Oh and I forgot to mention in case it helps at all, I am going through aclipse and I have a bachelors in history with no teaching experience at all.

Like I said before, I have a beef personally with on of the recruiters, but CDI itself I was quite happy with. Its been two years since I worked there but I still have yet to meet a person who has a bad personal experience with them. Every story is from a friend of a friend (anectdotal). I have no idea why people hate on CDI. Its not as bad as YBM, where everyone I know who worked their personally has been screwed over.
I only heard of one person getting fired and he was swearing in front of his students and later kicked a chair out from underneath a student.

It's only natural to try to find appeasing comments about CDI after the fact that you have been offered a position at CDI. I think you should take into consideration the pros & cons of anything you do.

But, I have exchanged pm's and emails with people who were ex-CDI people and current members, and they said that there were several people who got fired from training. Also, CDI people have to attend a lot of workshops and teacher meetings that are randomly called throughout the work week.

The more informed you are, the less surprised you'll be when you get there.

Just out of curiosity, is there any chance you could give me your sources? I just joined the site so I do not think I can send pms. And also, regarding your previous post, that is actually the opposite of what I am trying to achieve. I am not trying to justify working there to make myself better, I am just trying to find out as much as possible, and get direct feedback from cdi workers whether good or bad. Of course there will be bad experiences, but I just want to be able to distinguish from the true experiences and those people who just talk trash about the place without even working there before. Trust me, I am in no way looking to get responses like o ya its great join, etc etc. I just want to hear both sides of the story. Worst comes to worst Im thinking about just giving it a shot, as idiotic as that may sound. At least that way I will know for sure.

...which is exactly why I said you should consider the pros & cons.

The point is, and you can take it as a grain of salt, I simply had numerically more negative responses than positive experiences from about 10-12 different people.

Just type in "cdi" in the search bar under "job-related discussions," and you'll find people who openly say they have worked at CDI or currently work there. PM those people.

hmm thats what I am trying to find out I am open to hearing negative or open comments as long as its from a direct source who has worked there. I see so many comments like don't work there, that place is run by satan, etc but hardly any of these people seem to actually have experience. If you happen to see this would you mind letting me know the general work conditions, was the contract they sent you satisfactory, workload and how stressful it is, etc.
