hard to believe, but this year marks the 20th anniversary of "pretty hate machine" and 20 years of loud, angsty, cacophonous music brought to the masses

so, what is your favorite nin album? mine is "year zero"

They're all pretty much shyte. "Pretty Hate Machine" was industrial-lite and "Broken" had a little more grit going for it, but "The Downward Spiral" was the ultimate poseur album. I saw it more on t-shirts than in CD players.

Year Zero. For me, it's the first and only NIN album that is completely enjoyable from beginning to end. His other albums have peaks and valleys.

The Slip is pretty disappointing. Should be called "Year Zero Outtakes" Sounds like Year Zero type material, but not nearly as good.

Downward Spiral remains one of my favourite albums of all time, but I loved Ghosts - it's a great album to put on late at night when you're reading or working online.

I still enjoy Pretty Hate Machine from beginning to end. In fact, I think I will throw it on now!

Pretty Hate Machine.

My tastes run more towards Dance-type music, but a lot of Pretty Hate Machine reminded me of some EBM stuff I had heard before.

I love The Fragile.

I think TR once described it as "a soundtrack to a movie that hasn't been made yet" or something like that. Several tracks have been used for trailers and OST since.

love "the fragile" best, but i'm a pretty huge NIN fan, so it's hard to choose. but i'd agree with the poster who said "the slip" was disappointing.

NIN's collaboration with the game Doom was awesome way back when.

i agree with everything dev said, except 1,000,000 is an amazing song, and a handful of other songs from the slip are pretty strong. it's a pretty decent EP, even tho the last 3 songs are kinda weak

Had to pick Broken. Even if it is just an EP, it freakin' rocks!
Wish is a great tune.
Happiness in Slavery is the best NIN song ever. It just rocks so hard.

Years later, Pretty Hate Machine sounds really dance poppy. It's not near as hard as I thought it was in high school.

The Downward Spiral was good. I always dug March of the Pigs as a rockin song with an odd and killer feel.
I've always thought Closer was the weakest track on the CD. It's pretty lame, but people love to sing "I wanna f*** you like an animal".
It's like Metallica with Enter Sandman- their lamest song became their most popular.
I stopped listening to NIN after The Fragile. I just couldn't get into it anymore.
