This reads almost like a comedic pastiche of a restaurant review....

"succulent kimchi"...........???......many words could describe good kimchi, but succulent?

"cellophane noodles".........you know cellophane is a plastic? Describing a food as being like a plastic doesn't 'wet my palate'.......

Weird phrasing and cliches abound.

I thought you were going to give your favorite food, or ask others what their favorite is.

If you had asked, for me it would be, without a doubt, galbijim.

Korean ads and reviews tend to do that. Every movie poster/ad always says it's gonna be a "big" blockbuster with "big" action scenes and always makes references to a similar movie in the past.

Cellophane noodles are a type of noodle -- it is actually a thing, like angel hair pasta, which isn't actually made from the locks of the seraphim....

Cellophane noodles are named because of their clarity -- you can see through them! Much like the plastic! And yet they aren't ACTUALLY the plastic!

I'm with you on the "succulent kimchi" bit, though....

Right. OK. But I still think 'cellophane noodles' is a horrible name. I've always heard them called 'glass noodles'.

'Glass noodles' sounds like something that you'd get served in prison. The best food in Korea? Tough one. After 6 years here I am sick of pork and barbeque, the seafood is too disgusting to contemplate, the overuse of gochujang has bored me to tears. These days, the only Korean food I actually look forward to eating are of the chicken variety. Jjimdakk, Takdoritang, samgyetang etc. The fried chicken here is quite good too, but I want to keep my arteries in working order for the time being.
I still like kimchi jiggae, but I couldn't eat it everyday.

What did we miss out on here?

Cellophane noodles may not be the best name out there, but it certainly beats glass noodles.

He posted the same piece in multiple forums so his post was deleted.

Did they all get deleted? I want to know what food he's talking about.

Cellophane noodles, I'm guessing japchae, or jjimdak.
