Does anyone have an example of a flyer that they made for Private English Tutoring? Or an idea of what's best to write on a flyer?

Why not add your ARC details while you are at it.

Keep it simple

Your pic as big as possible, in Korean "English tutor", and a cellphone number.

Any more information will be nice for people to visit you unexpectedly.

Don't forget to add your school/hagwon address across the bottom as well. Make it large, say 72pt, bold and underlined with at least six exclamation marks after it so as to really catch the eye. Also, print the address in Korean too so that all those excited Mums will still be able to get hold of you if they don't understand English.

Good luck!

haha. I guess it was a dumb question. What I wanted was to see if anyone has put out flyers, and what they have found to be effective in getting results (clients). Maybe it doesn't even matter that much, and you'll still get people calling you.

We'll see! Thanks for the tips

I've found that to attract non-Korean clients, it's good to put up flyers around Immigration offices.

1. You better have the right visa
2. Get a license and register with the tax office.

Then put out fliers. I put out fliers for my study room at my apartment complex but it didnt really work so I didnt continue. Having the wrong visa, i.e. E2 will get you deported of caught. Fliers mark you with a bullseye if anyone you take students from see them.

I didn't waste the time or money putting flyers in the buldings at my apartment complex. I'd seen too many flyers get torn down, drawn on or covered up by someone elses flyers.

Instead, I made friends with the adjussi at the mart-ah in my apt., community and he put a smallish poster in his window. When the mothers ask him about it, he gives them a business card.

If I sign up a new student in my complex, I give the old guy some cash-e.

So far, so good.

I agree. Fliers are not an effective method in Korea.

Like it is for many businesses in Korea, word of mouth is always the best way to reach your clients. Mothers want more than just a flier and an interview with the tutor. They want someone they know to guarantee a good service.

From my experience, I can tell you this. Make as many korean acquaintances as you can if you want to do privates. May it be some employee dinners, community events, or your school connections.
Tell them that you are looking for some extra teaching opportunities. They'll be eager to set you up with someone.

Once you have someone, then you are set, because that someone will bring another and another and so forth.

Good luck!
