Are there decent chain hotels or non-chains that speak decent english or even chinese?
proximity to the airport or the centre of seoul would be my preference.
I was thinking of Itaewon, but it can get sorta seedy on the weekends |

You could try Gaya hotel near Namyeong and Samgakji stations.
My mum stayed there a couple of years ago and it was fine.
It's a tourist hotel and they speak English.
Or the newer Hotel Elle Inn very near there too and nicer |

| I was going to suggest Gaya too - or you could try the Rainbow next door / behind if the Gaya is booked |

I am putting my mom up in the hotel Riveria in Gangnam. I hope it's nice.

The price was a little more than I would have liked to paid but for a weekend not too bad at 130usd for a deluxe room. |

| Try www.hotelwide.com I think has good rates if you book a couple of weeks in advance. |
