So I don't have a news article or anything to back it up, and I don't know how many of you many already know about this, but my co-teachers was talking about it during lunch. One of the many dumb kids in my school got a call from the prosecutor's office yesterday about illegal downloading. Supposedly charges will go on his record and he will have to pay a big fine. I asked what he had downloaded and she replied with "music, cartoon, and maybe novel." I know the RIAA in USA has stopped the lawsuits and has resorted to "slap on the wrist" warnings (no more $3000 out of court settlements), but I guess DAs in Sparkling Korea are still on the hunt.

Just a friendly warning to beware, I know they'd probably love to make an example of some unassuming waygookie.

No, it's true. One of my friends at an academy here in Korea had a student who got called in and asked about downloading illegal stuff.

Canada - rules are enforced.

Korea - rules are a guideline.

What is your point?

An ex of mine got nailed. Had to go through all sorts of police stuff, and they threatened her with a million WON fine, but I don't think they ever enforced it.

Well my point is that i agree with what your saying before that they might get a call but i doubt anything else would happen past that Which is the same thing that happens in Canada. THey try to put fines on Students BUT usually that doesnt get to far before its dropped..
