Friends of mine went to the Toronto show and said that about a dozen people brought packages of instant mashed potatoes and gravy and tossed them onto the front of the stage when the band was playing. Apparently the booing was also a lot worse and more obvious than the papers were making it seem.
I feel bad for the rest of the people in the band - they seem like legitimately nice guys and now their music is being overshadowed by BBT being an idiot. |

Tom Petty shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as that BBT tool |

For gawd's sake , he had a bad time with a rude announcer. The host promised him not to talk about his movie career and the very first statement was about his movie career. Some people do not take crap from people and apparently Mr. Thorton is one of those people. I actually respect that attitude. |

No, the announcer had a bad time with a rude guest.

I heard a bit of it live, though I missed the beginning, and had no clue who was being interviewed. Thornton came off very surly and petulant, unlike the rest of the guys in the band. |

yeah i don't think you can watch the interview and say that the interviewer started off focusing on his movie career. i wanted to take billy bob's side on this because i think canadians are a sensitive nationalistic bunch and prone to fits of indignancy whenever an american says something mean about the country, but when i saw the interview, i have to say billy bob came across as cranky 5 year old and the interviewer was very professional. |

Just watched the interview.
The CBC radio host was very calm, tolerant, and professional. BBT came across as a total ASS.
His band mates, my guess, felt embarrassed and jumped in to kind of save the interview. Wonder if they had words with him after the interview.
By they way, has anyone seen the BBT video on Youtube, Angelina? I highly recommend it. aha!!
Enjoy: BBT's Angelina

If he WASN'T a movie star he wouldn't be such a *beep* on the radio. If he wasn't a movie star he wouldn't get near the studio. He knows it. |

I think Billy Bob was justifiably upset and I think his reaction to the interview can be better understood when taking into consideration: 1) It was 6:ooam. 2) He wanted the interview to be based on his merits as a muscian, not on his merits as an Academy Award winning actor who is persuing his hobby. 3) The interviewer and producer violated his trust by mentioning his movie career.
For some musicians, music is something intensely personal and I think Billy Bob was reacting to the interviewer's violation of trust and implicit suggestion that music to Billy Bob was just a hobby.

.....because usually when people are throwing stuff the 300 lb bouncers come along and toss 'em, not very nicely either.
BB, on behalf of all Canucks I apologize you couldn't induce us to more mayhem at your lame shows--don't let the door hit you on the way out. |

you'd think a guy who's been in show business for years would have learned how to act professionally for 10 minutes. i know it hurts, but the only reason you're on a major tour and national radio interviews is because of your film career. there is nothing particularly original about mixing country with rock, other than the fact that some guy who used to bang angelina jolie is doing it.
bbt asked whether similar questions would have been asked to tom petty. well yes, if tom petty started an acting career, i'm sure 99% of interviewers would mention his musical background. |

I watched the interview; not surprised. It shows how insulated actors and actresses are from real people in the real world. When you get paid millions, and fawned over by thousands, by pretending to be something you are not then I suppose it goes to the head. Billy Bob is a turd, like his former wife. They need the limelight to justify their existence.
I don't need BBT. Never watched his movies, never will. Never listened to his "music", never will. Hopefully his band-mates will dump him and go for a real musician.
And I'm not Canadian either!

...and Tom Petty doesn't strike me as the kind of performer who would be a total jerk about it either. |
