|
|
I just got a haircut from a place down the street from where I live. They seemed friendly enough, and seemed to understand what I was saying...
But then I got to the hairwash...
Everything was normal till the end. This little Korean lady gave me a very hard massage on my ears, head, neck, and shoulders. Is this normal?
It hurt for a minute. Was more shocked than anything never received that during a hair cut. |

Relax and enjoy it. You can get some very nice head massages here.
If the massage starts drifting below the shoulders, then you might want to check either your morals or your wallet to see if you can pay for the extra service.

I've had that once or twice..there seems to be high turnover at the place I get my hair cut, so I rarely get the same person more than twice.. .I've asked around and some people seem to that. They're really into the whole hard massage thing here. |

In America, you may have noticed, they take steps to sterilize the combs and scizzors, etc. at barbershops. Have you seen that here? No. Sometimes they even wash your hair before your cut.
Here, they try to kill anything they passed along from previous customers by washing your hair afterwards, very vigorously. My guess is they have to wash your hair, by law.
If they try to break your neck while getting your head into the sink, and use ice cold water, I think it means "Don't come back, whitey." |

Doing your best "Joey" from Friends impression and saying "How YOU doin'?" works well, too, though only if she's worth it..... usually it's the "hair stylist" who's more worth the Joey treatment, though... |

You should never have your hair washed before it's cut. Having your hair cut while it's dry makes certain it'll look the way you've asked for it to have been done. If you hair is wet while it's being cut, then the end result may look a bit off because everything looks different wet. |

You can get better head massages if you go to shops with TWO Barber poles. |
