Does anyone want to set up a playoff pool where we choose players instead of teams. I just think that would be a lot better than taking teams.

I think we should have a draft tomorrow. any ideas?

Means more work so the next question is who'll be tallying the results? Maybe we should institute an honor system Very Happy. Course, we could always wait till the end and employ them there math skills. We could do both, were you thinking of only either/or?

I did one a few years back where each player chose 20 guys, with a maximum of four from any one team. Also we had to pick three d-men. It was a skater pool, no goalies. Nobody ever picked the exact same 20 guys, as I recall.
Not a huge pain to tally it all, as only a few players remained competitive til the end.

You guys thinking 'new picks each round' or 'pick once and walk away,' or what?

Personally, I'd say pick once and be as it may. This also incorporates choosing the correct teams, so even better if we don't do the team pool.

While I wouldn't expect people choosing the same 20 guys, how many would pick the same nucleus of point-scorers? Guess if we're doing pick once, the odds will be lower of having this scenario as there will be differing opinions of who will win and thus the emphasis on players on different teams.

I think choose your own is probably better though, cus I'm wondering how we could actually do a draft otherwise here given the limited responses.

If we did the player pool as suggested here, would it be worthwhile to also do the team pool? I'm game but just wondering what others think.

If anyone is interested, I have created a salary cap playoff hockey league at:

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/hockey/playoffs/basic/home.html

just click on "get your free team now"
then select Join an existing league
then select "Dave's esl hockey"
password: korea
then you select your players.

you have to register at sportingnews.com as well to join.

drkalbi, is this your answer to establishing a player pool here? Laughing Or just in case it doesn't happen? Very Happy Do they have any kind of automation with regards to tallying the points or is this something you need to do on your own as the establisher of a team? Anyway, it sounds interesting.

Perhaps if we don't get the feedback here in a timely fashion, we could do the team pool here and the player pool on sportingnews.com. Or of course if many want to stick to the team pool here.

Can you give a bit more info with regards to how many players, etc.

Everything is automated. Points are given based on the usual player stats. This is just an option. I've used this site many times and found the games very fun.

A few people have already made picks for the round-based pool, so I figure it's a go.
I'm definitely in for the player pool too, here and elsewhere.

There are two pools one for teams and one for players- the player pool is in another thread (not this one)
