Seems like a good site. After checking out a handful of the listings, it was nice to see the reviews for the different apartments - the agent seemed to be quite honest, often being less than flattering. |

| 300k/month is pretty damn low, especially in those areas. My realtor had one place at 350k but it was basically a cupboard under the stairs of the apartment above, definitely wouldn't have been legal to rent out back home. If you're looking for low rent + low key money you might need to revise your budget to at least 400k and probably 500k, or start looking somewhere further afield. gl with it tho. |

| 300,000 is pretty much goshiwon/one room type levels depending on how low the key money is. By low do you mean 1-2 million, 5 million or 10-15 million |

I just went through the apartment search. I came across a cheap place I almost took- it's probably still available. I think it wsza 350,000W, though I can't remember how much key money (doubt it was more than a few million).
The apartment was pretty small... but its saving grace was it was the sole apartment on a rooftop. So you open the door and you are on a big roof with a bit of furniture and an awesome view. I LOVED this. I decided to splurge and get a bigger, nicer place, but damn... that room almost sealed it for me.
Anyway, the other Itaewon area real estate agent is named Mandy Kim. She also speaks great English, and I just found her to be... less creepy than the guy at Eden Realty. Though he didn't screw me over or anything (though I believe his fees were a tiny bit more than Mandy's), so I'm not trying to dissuade you or anything. They basically have the same apartments. Mandy showed me the 350,000W... her e-mail is [email protected], her phone number is 010-2781-5580. Her fee for renting me this beautiful, well-priced apartment was a mere 100,000W (unbelievable coming from New York).
I also have to echo what other people already said... 300,000W and little key money will really get you the tiniest space imaginable, if it gets you anything. Hope you realize that. |

I'd second this recommendation. I recently moved into a place she set me up with. It's a small two room, one bedroom, rooftop apartment. It costs 310,000/month with a 1mil deposit. It came with a washer, a stove, a patio table, and an air conditioner(originally no ac, but agreed to pay an extra 10,000 per month to have one purchased and installed). The fee was 100,000, and the place is pretty great. It's up a big hill, which is a pain, but it has a great view as a result.
Anyways, I would suggest contacting her if you haven't done so yet and asking about an apartment in your price range. Also, you can check out her site. It's not updated too frequently, and she has more places than are listed on the site, but it's worth a look. http://happyhomeinseoul.webs.com/apps/photos/ |

Greedy Bones, I think you took the place I almost took... pretty tiny apartment, but MAN... that view almost did it for me.
I'll give you some money if you want to give me a key to the front gate/roof access. I am TOTALLY serious... I live right around the corner. Write me at [email protected], though I barely expect to seriously consider my offer. |
