I'm graduating college in one month, and then I am planning to apply for english teaching jobs in the Seoul area, public school or hagwon I haven't decided yet. When do public schools and hagwons do all their hiring? Will this give me enough time to have a choice of jobs? When does the next Korean school term start? I assume that once I get a job, they will want me to be in Korea before school starts for training. Is this true? How much earlier do most schools expect you to arrive prior to the first day of school? |

Hagwons will have you teaching the day after you arrive. To beat the jetlag, keep vampire hours for a couple weeks before you leave. |

The public school application period appears to be underway for the upcoming term. The term begins in September. I would expect that you would be here at the end of August if you go this route. Now, there are public schools that hire all the time. Maybe someone left the school for whatever reason.
Hagwons hire perpetually. You can apply whenever you wish. You usually aren't going to get training. You may or may not get materials. In my case, I was shown the classroom and told to go teach.
You can start contacting recruiters now and getting your things in order. |
