Anyone?? I'm in Haebanchon... not looking to spend much, but I've heard you can get good quality for not much money here in the big K, so I thought I'd see what's out there.

I'd just head over to yongsan/sinyongsan station. Or you can go to any Emart, Homeplus, LotteMart, etc. You can get speakers for under 10,000 won.

Thanks. I'm no audiophile, but I'd probably like to pay more than 10,000W for a bit more quality.

hey i've got a pair of really nice desktop speakers w/ subwoofer that i dont use anymore. i got them in yongsan for like 90K a couple months back. but since i moved to a smaller room i haven't even taken them out of their box.

the only problem is, you'd have to keep them sitting. i've moved them around so much that sometimes when the wires are placed a certain way, the sound goes off. but they'll come back on if you place the wires where they like to be... if that makes any sense, haha.

anyway, you can come check them out any time. i live in haebangchon too. like i mentioned before, they're great quality for listening to music or watching movies really loudly. i'll even show you what i meant when i was describing the problem in the previous paragraph.

oh, and most importantly.. i'll let the speakers go for 25K Smile

let me know if you're interested!

Blah... that's frustrating. That post was sounding great, until the part where you described how the speakers must be set at the right place. That's happened to like every speaker I've ever owned, and it is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. It actually seems to happen with everything I own that takes wires to work.

Oh well. Anyone else??

Try Britz. A reasonable Korean company, probably their best PC speaker manufacturer. Becoming a little pricey. I'd avoid all high end stuff from them though. Over priced. Their mid range stuff is good though.

BR-3100S is a good little system, probably about 40,000 these days.

Or a few of their pricier models, BR-4700, BR - 4900TII or BR-4700P

The BR-1000A isn't bad either or the BR-1800

Prices here at Danawa

You can also step up and buy a complete amp and speaker system for 150,00 if you buy Korean - Inkel or Saga (Inkel is known as Sherwood in the US and probably your safest bet for a Korean brand). Yamaha isn't bad either.

or 300,000+ for a Wharfedale Diamond 7.1 or Paradigm Atom Speakers with either an NAD C315BEE or Cambridge Azur 340A Amp. This would be a nice little Hi-fi.

I currently use the BR-3100 A reasonable amount of bass, mid and treble for a budget set up. The satellites are better than most budget speakers and the sub puts out a reasonable amount of bass. Easily compares to my Logitech speakers. Although for only 150,000 an amp and speaker set-up would be a nice upgrade. The satelites from my Britz speakers can easily be used as rear speakers if I up grade while the sub would still be good enough for a little oomf.

Speaking of speakers, does anyone know exactly where in Insadong the stereo market building is located? A guy I knew got a pretty good deal on klipsch speakers there about two years ago. Unfortunately he's already left Korea and I never bothered to get directions. Apparently they have the best prices in Korea. He said he researched online and spent a considerable amount of time looking around Seoul before his Korean friends that are musicians told him how to find this place.

Anyone know of it?

Bump. I'd also like information on this place in Insadong.

The market is a bit odd. There is a road that goes past Tapgol park. It splits into the Insadong strip on the left and then goes under a building on the right. The market is in the building that goes over the road (to the left of Tapgol Park and right of the Insadong strip if you are facing West).

There is also a street of traditional instruments somewhere in the area (I think it's on the right of Tapgol Park).
