Today I came in to do some extra work with a student and stopped by the multi-sil, and what should I find but two students at a computer scrolling through photos of Chelsea players with their children on Chelsea Family Day. They seemed especially to like ones of a topless Drogba with Frank Lampard's kid. Here I had no idea my students had any knowledge of or interested in anyone beside Manure and Lee Youngpyo. Kind of made my day.

GO BLUES!!!

I love doing oral tests, and after hearing that listening to music or sleeping is their hobby for the hundredth time, getting something really cool. Always perks me up.

I was reading students' assignments on describing their families. One student wrote of her mother that 'her hobby is cleaning'. You have to love the odd, rare bit of originality.

I hear you on that, Y.B.S.

I taught a kid last Spring who wrote the same about his mother. There was a student at Mapo Ewha A.S.L. who also informed me with nary a trace of irony that her mom's favourite hobby was cleaning her home.

Teenage Korean girls who know who John Therry and Frank Lampard are and are interested enough in them to be pulling pics of the Internet? I'd put that in the category of 'things you don't see every day'.

who?

again, non-americans who take an interest in soccer! Call the Globe!

pretty much every nation on earth is interested in soccer, minus one.

Now, if you had a korean girl printing pictures of Steve McNair, Tom Brady, or Peyton, I'd be interested. But soccer? Come one...........

no shock in "Soccer"

I teach about soccer along with baseball. Wink

I've NEVER met someone from England or SA who taught about baseball along with soccer. Guess learning the rules of baseball is just too hard. Wahhhhhhhh Laughing Take a look around- IN KOREA, Korean kids see baseball a lot more than they see soccer.

I was editing a speech for a speech contest and one of my students wrote that her mother loved "money and sleeping"!

I loved it when I got one whose favourite band was Rush, and another who loved snooker "but only on a regulation table which are not in Korea".

Students are full of surprises.

I had a lesson on giving advice and one of the questions was: "How can English lessons be more interesting for Korean students", and the top answer was "In my opinion you should give up".

My co teacher wasn't too amused but it made me smile for the rest of the day.
