Hi

I've been offered a position at the Kang's Insitute near Taereung station (2 subway stops away from Joonghaw station). The contract looks fairly decent, but I thought I'd gauge the forum's opinion on this one in particular(hopefully you have one on this school!). One thing that has worried me a little is that I was only given one teacher's e-mail address, when there are 2 working there. The reason being, they didn't want to give their e-mail out to anyone. Maybe I'm being overly paranoid, but it feels like they may have a few bad things to say about it. This is based on nothing but gut feeling.

Cheers for any thoughts! Wink

Are your referring to "Kang's Language School?" Is this the same thing?

I worked for Kang's in both Chungju and Cheongju in 2004/05.

Nasty little places, few resources, shitty schedules, a wongjangnim that was utterly hopeless, huge pressure to retain students, you may be requested (read: forced) to work illegally at another branch, people working on tourist visas, I could go on.

I don't know this particular branch - but based on my experience of working for two other Kangs branches, my suggestion would be a firm NO.

Cheers for your thoughts guys. I've decided to reject the offer, this is the 3rd job I've turned down and it's starting to feel like I'm waiting for an unrealistic 'perfect' job. Hopefully something turns up soon!
