I'm looking to find some so-so tennis players for weekend games (or from time to time weekday evening) . I'm thinking about 10/11am Sundays.

Where I live are 2 great courts (carpet), always empty, free. Pretty central in Gangnam, near the Seoul Arts Center. So I'm hoping to get 4-8 people and we can rotate/play doubles etc...

Let me know by PM if interested but leave a note here too! Thanks.

They won't be empty for long. Getting a court in Korea can be a bitch. I wanted to play some this spring and summer, but the only courts in town are 150'000won a month. Yeah right...

yeah, no public courts is a real bummer. I know its just not possible since people are stacked on top of each other in this city, but still.

I'd like to come down to play, but to get to Gangnam that early I would have to leave my apt at like 8. sorry.

I'm interested. I think that I know the courts that you're talking about. Are they in the midst of some government buildings? Can't send PMs yet because I'm still working on the 25 barrier.

Yangjae also has some courts. They're maybe 15-20 minutes from Gangnam on the 470 bus. The outdoor ones are clay.

Totally free and I am lucky. Right outside my door, I can run for miles on trails (and not trails full of whoever) yet still near everything. Like so much in my life, I'm fortunate and very thankful, even here in Korea.

Teacherinseoul. I don't think these are the same. They are up on a hill , on a side of a mountain. You'd never know they are there! Beautiful view also. There are some govt buildings nearby but way down below.

I used to live in the Arts Centre area. I think that we must be talking about the same courts. Although, I was amiss to say that they are "in the midst of" government buildings. They're just kind of close.

The courts that I'm thinking of are located next to some trails. The area is quite green. The courts aren't free 'though. They were 20K won/hour as of fall, 2008. So perhaps we are talking about different courts.

20K is reasonable.

Recently I played with my team at an indoor tennis center and they were all grumbling about how expensive it was.

20K an hour.

In the U.S. you can only hope to find indoor courts that cheap (well, ones that arent built on top of an indian burial ground).

So I chuckled and said next time it's all on me.

But, other than that, I play out on the strange clay they have here. Slip-sliding around is still fun, but I dont like my socks turning red. Confused

Close but no cigar. The courts I'm talking about are private. Free if I invite. They are west of the Arts Center, on the mountain side.

Yeah, 20,000 won is pretty reasonable. I once was paying at Olympic Stadium in Kyiv, $75 U.S for an hour and a half. That was 8 years ago too...talk about fools and their money.

I'd be interested, but I won't move to Gangnam until July. If you still are looking for someone then, keep me in mind.

Michael,

I'll still be around so keep it in mind. However, we'll be getting into "rain delay" issues...

As an aside, I heard that a colleague bought a cheap racket online for under 10,000 won! That's cheap. I think 30,000 would be a bottom line though for anything that you'd want to play with for more than once or twice a year.

bradford,

Yeah, there is too much "lingo", in teaching and about online stuff! KISS.

PMs sent and hopefully I'll find some usual suspects to add and get a group going....

Thanks for all who replied.
