I have Windows XP on my netbook, and I'm thinking about installing Ubuntu's Netbook linux on it.
I'm worried about being able to browse Korean websites. I use Naver, Gmarket, and occasional Korean Retailer websites (samsung, sktelecom, KT, etc...)
I know a lot of Korean websites use ActiveX. IS it possible to view activeX websites on a Linux OS?
Also, do the websites load correctly if there is a way? |

You can load the Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface (NPAPI) system it works similar to ActiveX. There is also a Mozilla plugin that you can install via WINE that should also work. |

Some webpages don't work and some do. I don't have trouble with gmarket or naver but I do have trouble with my wife's stockmarket webpage.
There are two ways to get around this problem. One is to try Opera's browser, as it sometimes handles IE pages better.
The other option is to install is an older version of IE that works quite well with WINE. Basically, install WINE and then download the older version and it will install just like it would on a Windows PC. When you want to run the program you just have to find it through the WINE menu under applications. There are tutorials about this and the Ubuntu forums are both active and helpful. |
